Led by experienced anesthesiologists, our joint practice provides care for various surgical disciplines such as surgery, ENT, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopedics and dentistry. Our Story
The “Zentrum für ambulantes Operieren” was founded as early as 1979 and has been continually developed and expanded ever since. At that time, this courageous step was far ahead of its time, as outpatient surgery was still unknown in this country at the end of the 1970s. Our center is thus the oldest outpatient surgical facility of its kind in Germany and thus a pioneer of this patient-friendly care!
Together with a highly experienced and consistent nursing team, 5 anesthesiologists care for a large number of small and large patients each year during surgical procedures of all disciplines.
After operating at the Pfaffplatz for over 40 years, we are now part of the Meliva MVZ Westpfalz family in a new location in the PRE-Park Kaiserslautern.
Patient Information
Before the procedure
Before the planned surgery, you will discuss all the relevant details with your surgeon. He or she will give you the date of the operation in consultation with us.
If possible, please come to our center a few days before the operation for a preliminary anesthesiological consultation. Your family doctor or pediatrician will perform the preliminary examinations required for the anesthesia. Please bring all relevant documents, including a list of any permanent medication you may be taking, with you to the preliminary consultation. Your anesthesiologist will suggest the most favorable anesthetic procedure for you individually.
We would like to point out that you are not allowed to actively participate in road traffic for 24 hours after an outpatient procedure under anesthesia. In addition, you must make arrangements in advance for a suitable pick-up (car) and appropriate care by an adult overnight.
If you are unable to attend the scheduled surgery appointment due to acute illness or other circumstances, please inform the surgeon and us as soon as possible.
The Operation
Please come to the surgery on time at the agreed time to ensure a smooth procedure.
Please note that you must not eat (6 hours), drink (2 hours) or smoke before the operation.
The continuation of any existing permanent medication must be discussed with the anesthesiologist.
We recommend comfortable clothing. Please bring any aid equipment you may have (crutches, cold packs, etc.).
Recovery Room
After the end of the operation, you will continue to be cared for by our experienced nursing staff in the recovery room for approx. 2 hours.
This provides a high degree of safety and ensures that only really “fit” patients are discharged!
In-patients of the Lutrinaklinik are transferred to the care of the nursing staff of the ward after the recovery room phase.
Home Discharge
Before discharge, you and your companion will be familiarized once again by the nursing staff and, if necessary, by the surgeon with the required rules of conduct.
Follow-up treatment is usually carried out by the surgeons in their practice; please clarify the accessibility of the colleagues with them yourself!
We are happy to hear if you were satisfied with the treatment in our facility and wish you a good recovery!
